About Mrs. Rodriguez

Biography

I was born in Santa Maria, California and have lived here my entire life. For more than four generations my family has been involved within some aspect of the community, and I can only hope to continue this valuable tradition. I am married to the most wonderful man, Eric, and together we have two amazing little boys, Connor and Brandon. They are what keeps me motivated.

I have been a Santa Maria Saint since the year 2000, in which I was first enrolled as a student. It was here in the Agriculture Department where I really found a home; the sense of pride and community that both students and staff embody is the reason why I decided to return here as a teacher.

Experience

Prior to earning my Teaching Credential, I completed my Student Teaching in the Agriculture Department at San Luis Obispo High School. Although I really enjoyed the city of San Luis Obispo, I always knew that my place would be here in the city Santa Maria. So, rather than diving into any teaching job that I could find, I decided to start out as a Substitute Teacher within the SMJUHSD until I could find the right opportunity for me. I substituted for two years before accepting my first position in the Science Department at Pioneer Valley High School in January of 2012. In August of 2012 I began my current position in the Agriculture Department here at Santa Maria High School, and the rest is history.

Education

After graduating from Santa Maria High School in 2004 I attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where I majored and earned a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Horticulture Science. Although I had a genuine interest in the horticulture industry, my true passion was really working with young people, so I decided to pursue teaching in which I earned my Credential in 2010 and my Masters in Agriculture Education in 2016. I am extremely excited to be working with new and returning students each year.
